Air Cadet Aircraft contd Made with Xara We go gliding on a regular basis, about every six weeks, and all new cadets get to fly within the first few months of joining us at Harpenden. We will normally select the youngest cadets who have never been before and for some this will be their first flight - ever! The minimum qualification is to have your parent's consent, possess a Record of Service booklet, be enrolled as a member of the ATC and have a uniform. Your morning or afternoon at RAF Henlow will be well organised, four cadets travel from Harpenden with a member of staff who will look after you for the duration. The Air Cadet gliders, called Vigilants, seat two side by side and the pilots are highly skilled volunteers. They are powered gliders (with a propeller) and a 25 minute flight will give you a great thrill. Grob Vigilant T1. RAF Henlow, Bedfordshire Where is RAF Henlow? Link to map here.
